It can also be to build up the audience for it's eventual release. I hate the announcement about announcements in every other facet of life but I kind of understand in these sorts of context. You need maximum coverage and maximum spread of the word. It's a tough call either way.

Stop defending an obviously dubious and idiotic practice. Imagine: "Breaking: Sheriff announces fraud." Or "sheriff says soon breaking." Which link are millions gonna click?

These days? Chances are the media wouldn't even cover it if it WASN'T announced in advance. Seems to me like a way to boost viewership AND ensure the press do their job and report on it.

Love you all, but it clear there's not a lot of experience promoting events among this thread. And as a former wildly unsuccessful club promotor, I can empathize. 😁
