FYI I received this from a freight company today:

CUSTOMER ADVISORY Emergency Container Dwelling Surcharge

To our valued customers, The Biden-Harris Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force and US Department of Transportation announced October 25th a new policy being instituted on a Federal level in attempt to clear the historical levels of current port congestion.

Effective November 1st 2021, there will be new "Emergency Fees" applied to all long dwelling cargo at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach as they work to reduce congestion in their ports.

The fees will affect the following containers:

Truck-bound containers that sit in terminals for nine (9) days or more Rail-bound containers that sit at least six (6) days or more* The ports will charge each container beyond the above minimum thresholds. The fee will be $100 per day, for each day the container has been at the port past the allotted time (i.e., $100 on day one, $200 on day two, $300 on day three, and so on).

Due to the 7-day notice on this new policy, it is currently uncertain how the fees will be charged & collected. More information on this will be shared in the coming days as we approach the November 1st start date.
