Why is facebook changing it's name, what does it mean, why do we care?

I don't understand the point of the name change and it's significance. Can someone explain like I'm five?

I saw a few comments on Instagram that said they want to hold on the name. This company is closing soon. I can’t confirm, I don’t follow him and don’t know about his business dealings.
