Something I noticed with google set as default search
You hand-type a URL. You don't always get the URL.
Google doesn't give you the URL. It gives you their "search results" of the URL
which sometimes doesn't contain the actual URL.
I use Firefox with separate URL---search bars set.
(Settings > Search > Add search bar in toolbar)
Right now I use metacrawler as my default search.
(You will need the addon "Add custom search engine" for Firefox to install metacrawler as default)
.
You will need a search URL like https://www.metacrawler.com/search?q=%s
or https://www.metacrawler.com/serp?q=%s to install metacrawler as a custom search engine
.
metacrawler works best with the addon uBlockOrigin (add blocker) installed
This explains why it takes me 5 searches to actually get the information I typed into the search. I have found they have ramped this up over the last month. Nothing I search for actually comes up in the first search. Thankyou for giving an alternative.
https://www.metacrawler.com/
on Firefox (settings > search > Add search bar in toolbar)
install uBlockOrigin
install "Add custom search engine"
Install metacrawler as a search engine
You will need a search URL like https://www.metacrawler.com/search?q=%s
or https://www.metacrawler.com/serp?q=%s
make metacrawler the default search
Then -- do some side-by-side searches with google
With a recent Firefox it gives you the option to use your other search engines
when you click on the search window.
I sincerely hope nobody on here is still using Goog search.
IMHO, google is censoring people in the U.S. as badly as China censors it's people. I cannot get to this page through google AT ALL. NOT ONCE has it pulled this page up. I type into the search box and it goes back to the main page every single time and if I use the URL it does the same thing. I think we are actually much more censored than we realize.
I haven't used GOOG in probably 5 years. Much less set it as my default search engine.
Hey, if your really special, Google doesn't let you on before you have to pass one of their bot tests. That's me, bot. Sort of like parents being labeled as terrorists, or the FCC changing the definition of what telecom networks are, is. Boy they're working us over, involuntary surgical lobotomies thru word play.
My friend still uses Google and I brought up that there are competitors to YouTube that people are using for their content. Rumble and Bitchute.
When he searched for Bitchute, Chrome have him a warning: "there may be dangerous or disturbing information here.
First thing that he sees and comments about: "making children wear masks is dangerous."
He TOTALLY masks up his kids and he works as a psychiatrist. He's still stuck in one of the greatest psyops ever.
Chrome browser is fucking google
duckduckgo search is fucking Microsoft Bing in disguise
I realize that Firefox also has political issues,
but it's the best overall that I have found.
For an OS I like UbuntuMATE (so far)
I like 'synaptic' for my package manager.
I've enjoyed the Brave browser with Qwant!
Thanks for the Ubuntu suggestion!
Back in 1995 two major competing packages systems started,
.deb (Debian) and .rpm (Redhat)
IMO the ,deb did better dependency checking and seemed to do a cleaner package removal.
To be honest I haven't kept up with a lot of the new stuff.
The .deb repositories seem to lead in the number of packages. Many distros use .deb packages, probably the majority of them, including the Ubuntu family.
No closet s for that kike.
I use Brave browser and Brave search
Doesn't Brave do some unethical ad hijacking?

I use start page.
