If it's most dry van freight, a full load driven within a 50 mile radius would net a gross total of like 450 bucks for a days work. Minus the driver's pay of about 200-300 for that day, then the fuel before the tax at let's say 30ish dollars a day, then let's say 40 bucks a day for insurance, then we have to set aside a little money in case shit happens on that truck and we need repairs so 20 per day right there, then we gotta figure that it's probably still being paid off so take another 50ish out for that for the day
so 450-250=200, 200-30=170, 170-40=130, 130-20=110, 110-50=60, 60-40=20. Twenty fucking dollars we the owner would earn for that whole entire day of running that goddamn truck after expenses and that stupid new tax, unless we're the owner operator and we can cut out the driver, but they're trying to ban that shit too.
You get a truck that will be paid for and still generating income. And i hope your fleet rate of insurance isn’t $800 per month per vehicle. And I doubt you need $400 per month to maintain a brand new vehicle.
That semi is $40 per day in extra tax. Across a truck it’s a rounding error.
To a commuter though, it’s a huge tax.
