Agreed. It would serve no purpose to interject that information at this time as it is a difference of opinion. More than likely it would not be understood nor welcome and only lead to more emotional upset. You are right in that they should just celebrate her 96 year of life and not focus on her death.
I had a similar situation years ago between siblings. Once sister tried to help the other by getting an antibiotic for the other not realizing the antibiotic was contraindicated in someone with uncontrolled diabetes. She was only trying to help her sick sister that did not have insurance and was not in the best of health already. The antibiotic did not cause the death, but it contributed to it. I did not want to burden the surviving sister with the further trauma that her actions may have contributed to her sister's death. It would have served no purpose and only would have added to her pain. Some things are better kept unsaid.
