My take is that Boris decided to support Brexit because it might be a way to grab power. Brexit might not prevail but if it did it would put all its supporters in very stong positions politically. So it was a gamble and the gamble paid off. Boris is now Prime Minister and the Conservative majority in Parliament is huge.
Boris certainly looks out for Boris because he is one of the richest MPs in Parliament. Whether he looks after the people or whether they are just a way to enhance Boris's career and wealth is yet to be determined. He seems to have all the right contacts.
