"making" the adrenochrome is just exposing it (the adrenaline) to oxygen.

Also you don't have to kill the little sisters to get Adam, but you get more from killing them. Curing them and converting them back into normal humans also gives you some Adam. If you don't "harvest" any little sisters then you get the "good ending" (there are multiple endings).

But the rest of this is pretty on point.
