Of course they do. They attack and attempt to silence any dissident voices, and unless those voices are strong enough and secure enough that they can't be silenced, they get thrown off of mainline tech, and likely fired from old media as well.

we are seeing hundred-year-old-plus media companies lashing out at more independent journalists as citizen journalists become more prominent thanks to social media and the internet at large. Add to that activists masquerading as journalists at these dying news edifices, slowly eroding their credibility, and you start to see what's happening.
Journalism isn't dying, it's just undergoing a paradigm shift the same way politics is.
