It seems like it might be staged at first. But in reality, half of every one at these "events" (riots, protests, etc) are literally media, independent journalists, or just photographers looking to make a quick buck for the "perfect shot".
Lots of newsies isn't a surprise... every protest takes planning, designed for attracting protesters and press, and feds, and sometimes counter protestors.

Agreed. The photo looks too good to be a spontaneous citizen journalist, but could be either way.
Not like I’m an expert, but the lighting needed to get that kind of clarity in the middle of the night.. fishy at least.
