It’s actually, and yes oddly in the context of this site, a compliment. We’re not devils, we know that. At the Battle of Bellau Wood the Germans called us Devil Dogs because we were fierce and relentless and if I’m not mistaken, far outnumbered. Marines won that battle. We kicked them out of France, kept the nickname.
