The guy just said he never did load it, that he was instructed to go grab the rifle and he thought it was already loaded and racked when he picked it up at his buddy's house...

At no time did he ever say he didn't use the safety. There was no question about that.
If you watched it you heard him say he was told to go get the rifle, and he said he never charged it (racked a round into the chamber). He also said the rifle already had the magazine in it and that he didn't check it to see what kind of bullets were in in.
You are correct that there was no direct question to it, he gave details when answering a related question tho.

"Safe" isn't a verb. He didn't "safe" anything. He said the weapon had been kept IN a safe previously at Dominic Black's house. Perhaps English isn't your first language, fren.

The term 'safe' indicates someone has physically checked a weapon to ensure it is unloaded and indeed 'safe' to handle. It has nothing to do with any safety switch on the weapon or a gun safe, it describes physical actions performed to inspect a weapon.

Kyle admitted he did not load a magazine or insert a magazine or rack the weapon at any time that evening, that when he picked up the rifle he assumed it was already loaded. He did not verify it physically per his own testimony.
