I’ve always wanted to know what they do with the billions upon billions they take with their fines. I think we need workplace safety but OSHA is not the way to get it. They absolutely need to be dissolved.
They have a reason to fine small business for anything and everything. THEY GET THE MONEY!!
Businesses have to keep safety sheets on products in their premises. One was for a hand washer telling you to wear gloves while using the product.
You could not keep partial paint cans for future use or color matching. My spouse had to put the business paint cans in our home garage or throw them out!
What do they do with this money? How much do they have? How did they ever get the authority to rob businesses for noncompliance to their rules? They are worse than the Mafia by far.
Good Questions!
I think the logic for creating these regulatory agencies was to be, to some extent, "self funding" so the taxpayers would not be burdened -- just the "bad" businesses.
But it is a conflict of interest for a bureaucracy to be the ones creating the regulations and awarding the fines!
The natural impetus for any bureaucracy is to get bigger and increase its power.
TBH I do not know if they keep all the money, or if any is turned back over to the Treasury, or how much of their budget comes from the taxpayers, etc.
Follow the Money, though!
