1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
Study Notes:
133:1-3 David stated that unity is pleasant and precious. Unfortunately, unity does not abound in the church as it should. People disagree and cause division over unimportant issues. Some delight in causing tension by discrediting others. Unity is important because (1) it makes the church a positive example to the world and helps draw others to us; (2) it helps us cooperate as a body of believers as God meant us to, giving us a foretaste of heaven; (3) it renews and revitalizes ministry because there is less tension to sap our energy.
Living in unity does not mean that we will agree on everything; there will be many opinions just as there are many notes in a musical chord. But we must agree on our purpose in life--to work together for God. Our outward expression of unity will reflect our inward unity of purpose.
133:2 Expensive oil was used by Moses to anoint Aaron as the first high priest of Israel (Exodus 29:7) and to dedicate all the priests to God's service. Brotherly unity, like the anointing oil, shows that we are dedicated to serving God wholeheartedly.
133:3 Mount Herman is the tallest mountain in Palestine, located northeast of the Sea of Galilee.
It is funny and amazing that this psalm is on this day. Last night was an evening of attempted communication in our household. We turned off all distracting media and just talked. It was exhausting as we realized we don't talk to each other in understanding anymore. Even our common experiences were remembered differently. We began to wonder if we ever really communicated and if so, how? So, this morning when I read this psalm, it occurred to me that God is working to answer prayers of mine to restore, and rescue, relationships. I love the ways God works! I love the timely reminders in the Bible.
Almighty Creator of All, thank you for being the best Counselor there is. Thank you that we can talk to you about anything because you know us thoroughly. Help us find ways to communicate with others in true peace that promotes unity, as we remain committed to what is true. Help us do good like you intend for us. I love you, Lord. Help me love others too, according to your purpose for us all. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Have a blessed day.
It would be great to have a weekly televised Bible reading/study in every community across this country. Just reading His Word straight from the Bible. Nothing added. Nothing omitted. Only pastors that have a true love for God would lead it. But reality is that we have to, as individuals, spread the Word to our lost brothers and sisters in Christ. We have to.
No doubt. The church exists to make money. They cannot say that Christ finished God's work because people will not need the church. You only need Christ, in your heart, in your soul, marked on your forehead, Amen. You don't need the church and they will never confess this, they want your coin. The most shameful part of it, they could still get your $ even if they preached the true message. Just lead all to the King, every week, every day, gives us shelter, bring us the Spirit, we will fund you. Why they choose these lies, is like you say, disgusting.
I would disagree slightly with you. We need the church. The church is the body of Christ. We are the church. True believers in His word. We must get together with the church at least weekly to share the Word and learn. We must gather together for worship. Fellowship is very important. We must lean on every member of the church body and work together to fix what is wrong with what the “church” has become in the present day.
Agreed. My comment was a blanket statement about false religions.
I gotcha. Blessings and love to you brother.
