Sure, but he should also be compensated so thoroughly by defendants in lawsuits that he can buy whatever kind and quantity of firearms he so desires.
The possibility sure exists for him being awarded judgements but I was looking at the principle if not the law. There's literally days worth of footage of Kyle defending himself with firearms skills that are exemplar. Verified by him still being alive and unmaimed. He can't be denied that he has mastery over that weapon and he should have that and the right to carry same restored without any encumbrance.
