She must've gotten video and audio of crimes from the majority of the board members of Disney. There's no other reason, objectively, such mismanagement can be so richly rewarded. Especially when the franchise is on life support because of her specific choices. Maybe selling Lucasfilm was the only way Lucas could get unentangled from her without her going public with some serious dirt.
There's also the battle between Bob Chiapek and Kevin Feige to consider. Chiapek wants to reign the department heads like Feige and Kennedy in with short term contracts and more oversight. Feige in particular battles him.
Think of the situation like a medieval monarch and his barons, who on paper should be loyal to the king, but in practice can do what they want. If you want to reign in your barons the last thing you want to do is have them unite against you. You gotta wheel and deal to isolate the strongest most dangerous one, crush him and then move on to the next.
KK for all her faults was pretty neutered. She has little to no power at Lucasfilm, all the Star Wars stuff goes via Favreau. She apparently has little dirt on Chiapek as he was never a part of the Hollywood club, which is how he was able to neuter here, but sacking her would still bring more trouble then its worth.
Feige on the other hand dared to challenge the position of the king. So the king buys off KK with another contract and the ability to let her leave with dignity and honors so he gains peace on that front to concentrate on Feige. And no matter how much we would have wanted too, realistically we would never have gotten that perp walk where she's escorted out of the Magic Kingdom with a box full of her belongings.
Besides, didn't she work with Speilberg on classic movies? She must've something on guys like him.
That company has a severe management problem.
Thank you.
