You don't agree to be on a jury. You're called for jury duty. If you have one of very few reasons, you might be excused. If not, you show up for duty and are assigned trials for whatever period your duty covers. If you're selected during jury selection, you sit through that trial until a verdict is reached. You have no option to opt out.
A long-time manager of the jury process told me you can simply ignore a notice to appear for jury duty. They have no way to prove you received the notice.

If the judge thinks you're doing that just to get out of jury duty, your ass is grass.
“I’m too scared to acquit him. There will be riots again. People will die again. I can’t have that on me.”
No it isn't. Ive seen people simply day theyre too tired to sit all say and the judge will dismiss them.
Have you ever been through a jury selection process? It's more common for people to BS their way out than it is for people to accept.
It is super easy to get off a jury.

This is not legal advice.
