The Brits had contemplated assisting the rebellion of 1860, but there was no way they would ever commit knowing the international optics and the way they would be condemned by history for opening defending slavery. A bit ironic, right? British certainly were not thrilled about losing their cotton imports and market to send exports, but they could still get some cotton in Egypt and exports could go all around the globe. By not getting directly involved, they weren't unnecessarily risking damage... their biggest international competitor was fighting a civil war, let them crumble. However, there is evidence of action taken in Canada involving the Knignts of the Golden Circle and terror attacks, culminating with Lincoln being assassinated. The other interesting issue was dealing with Mexico. The British and French saw that as opportunity to reassert themselves back into the Western Hemisphere, but ultimately it didn't work.
I do like Shiva a lot. He does some great work. Not the best public speaker or presenter. The repetitive self promotion gets a little stale too. Interesting how he seems to hold the view of "screw Trump" because according to Shiva, Trump is apparently part of the bad system too and was just in it to boost Big Pharma. Perhaps Shiva is just blowing smoke or he just doesn't know the extent of Trump's heroism?
