Of course. They're re-used, they're disgusting filthy rags. If humans were meant to have shit covering our mouths we would have evolved that way! Even a surgeon uses them only for short periods of time, and they are PRISTINE and thrown out immediately after use. And of course - no surgeon is wearing a mask to prevent VIRAL spread. In some more serious surgeries, surgeons and nurses may be working for like 20 straight hours in masks to help keep anything they're breathing out from getting into the open wounds. This seems to work well enough for the doctors and nurses nearly daily without long-term effects. If doctors and nurses have been using masks for decades to keep patients safe it must work on some level. I was once in the hospital with a very contagious infection, the nurses and doctors treating me all came in in extra gowns, gloves, and masks whenever they were in my room. So the precautions kept them safe too since they worked multiple days with me and never got sick. 🤷♂️
