Sure it was high profile and controversial, but why did the prosecution go as far to even endanger their careers?

Because Soros will do anything to disarm America and keep US from destroying the LIE of gun control. He has stated out loud that the 2nd Amendment IS the only thing stopping the UN. takeover of America, by disarming America.
