That tells me that the "justice" system that participated in his trial was quite involved in pedophilia and/or worse.

Definitely! Those may have been trafficked kids, and heaven forbid we open that Pandora's box or dig into that rabbit hole.

Hence the small sentence. (Speculating of course in his case, but I have seen this happen before.) They want it to "go away" fast.
