We haven't had cable TV in our house in fifteen years. We have a Roku TV now, and for the most part, we pick everything we see. We're able to watch Rumble videos at night and a movie on Saturday nights. Otherwise, I just use it for free streaming music. I also still like to watch old 1930s-1970s movies from time to time.
I remember, though, before dumping cable years ago, that it was already pretty bad. They've been normalizing promiscuity and trashiness for 50 years now. Around 11pm back in the early 2000s, you had to deal with the stupid flashing/bisexual college girl ads every night, all night, and I used to think it was pretty bad for kids at the time to see that crap. It was basically soft core porn that any kid could access nightly. Now that kind of thing seems tame in comparison to what gets pushed in your average pop song.
Who's really to blame? We know that the entertainment industry is demonic and depraved, but until parents care and take action, nothing will change. Half of today's parents watch and listen to this stuff with their kids and are basically overgrown children themselves.
We don’t watch much tv either, but when we visit my mother-in law’s it’s all Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Mama’s Family, Little House on the Prairie, and Andy Griffith. I really miss those types of shows.
So do I! I love watching those old shows. Andy Griffith was, apparently, a wacky, not-so-nice man, but the show itself was so wholesome. We like to watch the old Twilight Zone sometimes, too. They had some very prescient episodes. We saw one last weekend about everyone in the future being forced into getting plastic surgery to look beautiful and perfect and all the same. It just reeked of the current Instagram culture and plastic surgery business.

You’re right! It’s completely on the parents for choosing to let the world raise their kids!
