A blue lodge has three degrees and that's it. Any higher "degree" would be part of either York or Scottish Rite which are appended bodies. Blue Lodge's are what you see in all over and operate under a State Grand Lodge in the USA. Nothing evil is going on in the Blue Lodge. I've held pretty much every position in my Blue Lodge including Master and Secretary. I'm not a member of any appended body and know nothing of them personally. A buddy that did join one did tell me that unlike the blue lodge that bases a lot of it's symbolism on the bible that that wasn't necessarily the case in the append body he had experience with.
