"The Awakening" used to be located at Hains Point, in Washington D.C., but was sold in 2007 and moved in 2008 to National Harbor in Prince George's County in MD.
it's a statue of a sleeping giant that has awakened and is rising up out of the earth.
Are you surprised they sold it and moved it out of D.C. -- when George W. Bush was president? I'm not.
Wow, that is freaking awesome. What a great find Patriot. I think it expresses exactly how I feel sometimes in this world of craziness.....struggling to get out of the muck and mire. I even think it is a great representation of our Great Awakening. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, fren.
Good gracious! That is quite a find!
I understand attributing a hopeful message to this piece. But. My first observation led me to recall the interment of the Watchers by God and Enoch's defense which saved the fallens' souls. When the art was re-viewed today, Revelations and the unchaining of Satan came to mind.
Ah yes, I saw the Eternals.
Reminds me of the movie Cabin in the Woods. They are waking up the sleeping giant.
I canβt find a good aerial shot! Help! π
Scroll through this, fren. There's at least one aerial shot here:

To give you an idea of scale, an averaged-size person can sit in the giant's mouth.
Cool! Thanks!
There are also pictures of Al Gore watching a Melissa Etheridge concert, as well as pictures of bags of trash! Awesome! π
How were you able to tell the difference? Kek.
I am NOT zooming in....π
