Have a look at the books yourself, Turner Broadcasting is a publicly traded company, you can pull up their finances and you can see that they, the owners of CNN, don't have a 200 million dollar line item anywhere. BUT, they do have a "General Legal Expense" line item that is $57,500 for around the same week the case was settled.
Assuming they only have one set of books and that it is public. I have seen companies that have two sets or more of books. One set for public eyes and one for private only. I have seen companies that also cook their books. Think insurance.
