Meh, this seems like BS to me. It’s more than likely an occupancy type sensor to turn on the display. People post stuff like it’s gospel all the time. Why would there be a sensory to access the fridge, when you still need to pay for the item?
You need to pay for the item before the automated door lets you leave maybe.
