I knew someone who worked with Salvation Army in a large city. I don't know if this particular branch is representative of all, but she said when donations were made, the "higher ups" would see if there was anything they liked, and keep it! SA has probably become like most large "non-profits"; very little money actually goes to their cause, with most going to fundraising and salary for the higher ups. Just because an organization is non-profit, does not mean their staff can't be paid exhorbitant salaries. You can check out most charities on www.charitynavigator.org
Speaking of which, the new advertising lately is for the Fellowship of Christians and Jews. I wonder how much of their funds actually goes to the cause they advertise…..
