Lt Robert Woodward met Assistant FBI Director Mark Felt in the summer of 1969 in the West Wing of the White House. They strike up a conversation... Woodward pursues the relationship and keeps in touch, asking for career advice. Woodward gets out of the Navy in August of 1970. He goes to work at The Washington Post.
