I live in NB, I called my local Sobeys, Superstore and Costco yesterday morning : asked for the managers.
Sobeys said they are not doing it. Superstore and Costco also said no, and both of these managers made it clear they believe not allowing Canadians access to food is illegal.
Superstore manager said he'll never implement it, no matter what the gov't says : he was quite on board with our way of thinking. Was a little relieved to hear, first hand, from the people that will make this decision, are not going to.
I'm sorry I missed your post. Just came across this and wanted to share what the government was trying to implement. I'm so glad you were on it and have called around and I'm even happier with the responses you received. I'm glad these stores understand that its not only illegal but it's inhumane to implement such restrictions. Thanks for sharing this today
