A virus typically mutates to weaker forms, mutations in and of themselves are not a reason to freak out. The spike protein of the original variant does a lot of damage to the human body. Evidently omicron only mutated on the spike protein.

Isn’t it entirely possible it mutated to be less damaging to increase its ability to survive? Wouldn’t true scientists be able to model the impact of the mutation instead of declaring the sky is falling?
