I learned many years ago that numbers do not guarantee truth.

when only one in 100 actually believe correctly on average you should be alone with the truth quite often.

Although the crowd was stirred up by Satan to free Barabbas, Christ had to go to the cross in order to free his people. The greatest example of the evil works of Satan being used by God to bring about good. Satan must have kicked himself after that one.
