I've been voting Libertarian most of my adult life. I've NEVER gotten what I voted for. Well, until 2016 anyway; couldn't help voting for Trump.
Good damn thing we don't hold a national vote on what to have for breakfast.
Everything put to a vote is something that YOU, personally, have no say in. If you're lucky the vote goes your way. If not, tough.
This is one reason (of several) that democracies always fail. Then there's the "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep debating what to have for lunch" factor.
"A republic, if you can keep it." -- removing all personal choices (except those that involve violating someone else's rights) from the reach of government, via voting or anything else, is the ONLY way we can keep it.
