What is really great is that we all get to raise our own children with the best intentions and knowledge that we can muster. Parenting is the hardest job I ever had and I made many mistakes and I have many regrets. Hindsight is 20/20. I don't condemn this family because they are not perfect...I will just leave it to the Lord to judge their souls and to the courts to judge their crimes. I don't rejoice at the pain and sorrow that this family has gone through. I just wish there would be justice for all the crimes and criminals that we have been hearing about for so many years.
I agree with you, to a point.
When the good ole boy system swept the initial part under the rug, where was the justice system then? It failed thr victims, and ultimately Josh. Is it possible that intervention, in addition. To the religious, may have kept the future actions from happening? We will never know.
I can speculate that a lack of balance in rearing their children could quite possibly lead to the initial molestation. It could also be said that Josh, himself, may have been molested at some point as well.
My problem stems that after the molestation, it appears, instead of doing some course correcting and adjusting...the dug in further. Brothers couldn't have younger siblings sit on their laps. The boys then couldn't change diapers. Then on top of that, three of the four eldest girls (that were molested) than were put in charge of their sibling teams and were put in charge of rearing young children, while still children...that were molested. Those choices do not look good.
Before everything came out, I was a bit..uh, taken aback by the older children parenting the younger children....but then realizing that was their responsibility, after being molested....and then giving scripted interviews on Fox to protect the image.
You're absolute right, God will judge them. Although, we do a major disservice if we ignore facts because they continued to make choices that were selfish in nature and not based on their family. We would be lying to ourselves if we didn't realize that they made themselves a lot more secular/mainstream. Then trying to be a ministry of Jesus, using their wonderful family, without actually caring for their family.
More than enough sadness for all involved. I just know so many families destroyed by alcoholism, drug abuse, infidelity, pornography, abuse, divorce, neglect...etc. satan is definitely working overtime. I am sure they wish they had done things differently.
