This reminds me of the death pod from star trek voyager s1e8 Emanations.
In the episode, before someone dies they are placed in this pod, which kills them then transports their body to a distant asteroid field.
If the death cultists could figure that last part out everyone would be screwed... I'm sure they will try to add a cremation feature to this thing at some point.
