Mucinex maybe? Or a type of Day/night-quil with the cough suppressants...?
I've seen it mentioned here a few times, but IVM can help (preventing viral overload), but it's not a cure all. What you need is perhaps an antihistamine (like benedryl) -- that's also in those day/night-quil products. Plus Ricola, maybe.
You're also under a lot of stress right now, which depresses your immune system. Try, if you can, to read or watch something to relax you -- even for a short while might be helpful.
I'm not a doctor, so this is a recommendation only and not medical advice.
I've taken Mucinex while infected. The Mucinex didn't cause any problems for me. The Glucerna however damn near made me drown in mucus until I put two and two together.
Correct, but what I've recommended will help dry out and clear the lungs, along with slowing down the painful coughing. They are not just cough suppressants.

Yes, thank you for the added clarity. My recommendation of Mucinex was for the expectorant.
