My father is home from the hospital, by the grace of God, after being admitted for ARDS from COVID.
He was never put on a ventilator, by God’s grace. They still put him on Olumiant, which wasn’t great, but he’s home. He needed oxygen support; they didn’t send him home with any. His sats are still not normal, but they aren’t in the 80s anymore. Also gave him dexamethasone while he was there.
While he was in there they also gave him zinc, melatonin, vitamin c, vitamin d—the works.
He is still in terrible shape. He still has trouble eating and drinking. He has terrible nausea. We have to help him shower, and go to the bathroom.
They gave him methylprednisolone and famotidine to take at home. They didn’t give him an inhaler despite giving him one in the hospital.
So, to everyone on here spouting memes about the survival rate of COVID like those of us who are suffering serious consequences from getting the damn China virus are morons, I ask you to reconsider.
Yes, I know masks do nothing. But they put my father basically on the Zelenko protocol, and I finally convinced him to take ivermectin twice before he got admitted, and he still got screwed over. We tried to contact AFLDS and FLCCC for treatment; neither provider nor pharmacy got back to us before he was bad.
Masks may not work, and the vaccines may be problematic, but I’m currently hoping my dad doesn’t have lasting consequences of this damn thing. So please, consider showing some respect for those of us terrified our loved ones will not be okay for a long time after being COVID positive.
Maybe omicron will finally end this since it’s milder. I hope to God it does.
I’m surprised they didn’t send him home with some at home oxygen. My mom was 80 years old when she got Covid and I help take care of her this is what might work for you since they didn’t send you home with oxygen.
Call your doctor ask them to prescribe it. Tell them it’s not acceptable to send your father home without the oxygen that he needs. Without oxygen, your body cannot move all of the nutrients and vitamins that you’re taking to the cells that need it. It’s the oxygen in the blood that carries everything around your entire body. Shame on them for that.
In the interim, you can get canned oxygen. People that live at high altitude use it and so do sports athletes. You can get it on Amazon or the local drugstore. I highly recommend it, it will help during the times where he’s feeling winded, and give you some type of assistance in the oxygen department. It’s not something you use all day, it’s just something that you use when needed.
Also continue with the ivermectin, if you can get Quercetin and NAC - both of those will help with the inflammation, and the Quercetin and zinc work together - that’s not allowing the virus to get into the cells.
Also you can request an inhaler and/or nebulizer so he can do treatments every day. At least until his lungs clear up. My dad had COPD, I helped take care of him when he was dying. The nebulizer was a key and keeping him alive for many many years. I think people do use it to help remediate and heal people with long Covid symptoms.
I’m sorry to hear this is going on with your father, we will be praying for him. Just remember you have to be very assertive with doctors these days. Almost demanding. I would recommend contacting his physician, and requesting the things that you need.
God bless you and have a great day
Edit. - also… This was key in helping my mom take it back on her feet not needing the oxygen. Every time she would go to the bathroom, I would make her walk around the house three or four times. That helps with keeping your lung capacity. I had to walk around with her until she got stronger, and she didn’t like it, but I made her do it. To this day she’s grateful I did that she thinks it helped A lot with her healing.
Also I bought small bottles of water. This way I knew how much she was drinking every day, and I made her drink X amount, to make sure she was hydrated. Also you can buy Pedialyte powder and sticks. This helps provide the electrolytes needed to get all the nutrients through your body as well. Without the proper amount of electrolytes, your body will continue to fail.
We also did three meals a day at the same time every day. Kept her on a very strict schedule.
They were considering it, but they try to avoid sending people home with it now for some reason. They didn’t elaborate; it just suddenly wasn’t on the table as an option one day. We are calling about it; just haven’t heard back from the on-call physician yet.
Thanks for the heads up about canned oxygen; wasn’t sure if the stuff on Amazon was acceptable quality for inhalation.
Still continuing Quercetin and zinc like before he was admitted. I do think this helped him to not develop ground glass opacities and elevated d-dimer levels throughout this fiasco. Same with the ivermectin. I couldn’t get my fever or heart rate normal, but they said their best guess was that the supplements and IVM were keeping my lungs clear. Hoping it does the same for him as we continue on the road to recovery.
In terms of the neb, we asked about that and apparently they’ve stopped using them due to some COVID patients getting much worse after a nebulized albuterol sulfate treatment. Funky, but that’s what they said. Just wish I had access to IV NAC to give him.
Thanks for the water and walking tips as well. Very helpful.
So glad to hear your mom is doing better! Sorry to hear about your father, but I’m glad he had you to help him during the thick of it.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad to hear all the information that you provided. One last thing that I heard about a while ago, was a nebulizer treatment with peroxide - but I think that’s done at a hospital or a doctors office. I’m not 100% sure. Keep me posted I hope all is well. Just so you know my mom is 81 now, she has no damage to her lungs, and she’s going to the gym twice a week now. Once you get through all this together, you won’t have to worry about it again. That’s the upside. My mom has confidence, and just that is worth all the freedom in the world. To not have to worry in the back of your mind that you might get it, that you might die, and that that would’ve could’ve should’ve well I’ll be out of the way. Keep praying to the Lord he will heal.
Ps I think the reason they don’t want the at home oxygen, it’s because people sometimes become reliant upon it. And that’s not a good thing. Once I had my mom up walking around every time she went to the restroom, I would have her check her oxygen levels with the oximeter. When the numbers were stabilizing, we would drop her oxygen down .5 each day. She was at 3.0 for about a week on the oxygen machine. That was my main concern actually, not getting her off that oxygen. But we taper off .5 each day until she was breathing fine on her own. Even our doctor says she’s surprised how well things went, and how healthy my mom is now. She’s been to a pulmonologist, it has no damage to her lungs at all. We will pray the same for you guys!
