Many here will know about vitamin D already, but some may not yet have grasped the significance of this vitamin in creating health – I was definitely late to the party.
This is my understanding of the latest research:
If you live in northern climes, or if you spend a lot of time indoors, you are almost certainly well below the level of vitamin d that is required for long-term health – including protection against cancers, virus and immune disease. To give you an idea, you need to be getting sun at the level of an Australian lifeguard or a fisherman in the tropics to have sufficient levels, and that probably isn’t you…
What you can do:
For 4 to 6 weeks, take 10,000 IU D3 per day (along with vitamin K2) After 4 to 6 weeks, you should be able to drop down to 4000 IU per day, and should then continue to supplement at this level all year round. You can do home blood tests to get an indication of your levels, but this tests for 25-D, which, whilst important, seems not to be the important factor in healthy tissue development, which is key for long-term health.
We are evolved to have VERY high levels of vitamin D coming into our system every day, which makes sense if you think of the theory of migration postulating we all came out of Africa, and presumably rapidly lightened our skin to try and improve the level of Vitamin D getting through. If you are dark skinned in a northern climate, 4000 IU might not be enough, but I don’t have the understanding to comment on that specifically.
Anyway, the takeaway is, Vitamin D is not just another supplement. It is the key to priming your body to fight disease of all sorts and your body needs long-term high levels to be laying down healthy tissue. This is in addition to all the other good things that we are aware of, such as zinc, quercetin etc etc.
We have an amazing opportunity here folks, in the middle of all the strife. All this globally focused attention on the immune system means we are potentially on the verge of a huge leap forward in understanding health. The folks here have been instrumental in my own developing understanding so thanks to all the digital soldiers out there who are helping to break through the stranglehold of big pharma.
For those wise souls who do their own research before following the advice of a random bod on the internet, here are some of the links that led me to wanting to promote this:

but it's definitely relevant to the post that dark and light skin process vitamin D differently
Indeed, there is a significant difference. And totally justified to inquiry. But that has nothing to do with out of Africa. All I recommend is to leave it, as it is not pertinent to the topic at hand.
In terms of discomfort, there is none, except for the sensation of spotting another WOKE crowd mantra. Certain things can be relegated to the rarity cabinet of bullshit. I mean you won't take the same position of agnosticism when it comes to viruses causing climate change or vice versa, would you?
well alright, I'll agree that the out of africa thing might distract, but it sounds like you've got a much stronger stance than I do against it, and I'll confess to being curious about what you know that I don't.... :)
