Article 1, Section 4 of the Constitution is clear on this:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

But I encourage the Democratic party to continue making our liberal friends and family look foolish as they try to find some way to defend this absurdity.

Yeah, it can't be changed by a simple majority in the senate (and dems are having trouble reaching that 50 vote threshold thanks to Manchin and Sinema). You have to alter the constitution to federalize the election.

They will try, but I don't see it happening.
