That was one of the things I found so strange about the bullshit about the pandemic. Hollywood is on their side, they had to have known what would happen to companies like AMC.
My mind immediately jumps to “what would the game from making streaming services the new normal?”
Because they aren’t stupid, as much as we like to pretend they are, they aren’t really. They knew what was going to happen. Perhaps they benefit from further isolation? But then isn’t that admitting that there is something good and wholesome about getting out of the house and going to a movie with your kids? I mean other than VeggieTales or something similar, not that VT is perfect, I’m not taking my kids to the theater for anything, but it’s almost like they just want to lock people in their homes to keep them isolated, to, oh I don’t know, maybe destroy their immune system? Every time I think of one piece of the puzzle i jump to what the next piece could be.
That’s why I anticipate finding out, very soon, that there is something extra fucked up about streaming services that we haven’t even thought of yet. More than just practicing preservation of our privacy, I bet there’s more to it.
Have you considered the harmfulness of blue light emitted from modern devices such as TVs, phones & tablets? It is said to increase cancer risk, can cause insomnia & bad sleep, depression ...many of its effects on the human body further lower the immune system, especially bad sleep & depression. Movie theaters don't use screens, they use projectors. Probably much less harmful. Furthermore it's not just the blue light emitted from these devices, it's also the frequencies / electromagnetic forces emitted, even when they're on standby. Lastly the easy access & "automatic next episode" function along with recommended titles based on their data collection from you, make it so much more tempting to "binge" tv shows, movies etc, something which you can't do at a movie theater.
Also they figure they can more easily control people who are isolated and only talking over communications channels that can be censored, since you know revolutions have historically been planned in pubs and such where people talk in person.

Hey - good points! Some of that I have never even heard of. Thank you.

Yeah, that makes me think of the founding fathers.
