No guys - they don't do their own research - they REVIEW the research provided by them by the DRUG MAKERS. The FDA "evaluates" the research presented to them. But this is what makes it such bllsht...drug makers are incentivized to have positive outcomes...so there is inherent COI. This is why so many drugs are "approved" and then LATER recalled or black-boxed or whatever when the death toll starts ringing once it's been rolled out to the public. It's actually worse then even now 'cause the FDA is so under-staffed and they don't have the manpower to thoroughly even review the sh*t data they DO get.
They've been underfunded and understaffed for their entire existence. This is why the PDUFA exists and gets renewed without question. If you want staff, you have to pay them. If you want fast service, you've got to front the cash for the infrastructure to do it. The gov't isn't paying, so the pharma companies pay and pass the cost on to the consumer. This is why your average drug takes 10 years and $2.5 billion to bring from discovery to market. The pharma company pays for the research, and the evaluation from the FDA.
... and then we give the drug for "free" to third world countries and sell it below cost to poor, strapped countries like the EU and Canada who have laws allowing them to demand low prices while our CMS/DHHS can't. <3
The US consumer literally pays for the world's drugs.
So your saying the FDA is like the rest of the government agencies funded by our tax dollars... a useless entity created to provide jobs for political friends into which money can be funneled (read laundered), and to provide a scapegoat for the political class to point at when it all falls apart...??? Have I pretty much got that right ..??. but Im pretty sure someone in that class will likely write a bill to throw more good money after bad (again read launder) to fix that "poor undermanned" organization... yeah sorry.. not sorry ..to the gallows with them all... Nuremberg 2.0 for every... EVERY one of them
