LOL You said " Don't expect them to be happy about anything else." Don't move the goalposts now to "happy about everything" or "happy about being in the military".

All I'm saying is some of them had tattoos; and yet they still found plenty of things to be happy about, and plenty of ways to have a great time. So a tattoo didn't mean people were not "happy about anything else."

Some people never served, don't have any tattoos, and aren't happy. Maybe you know someone like that. :) I don't think there's a correlation. Some people's tattoos even MAKE them happy, according to them. I don't get it, but that's them, not me. I hate pain.
