On your question of the eclipse, I find it interesting that a rudimentary pagan society could predict a eclipse; they ran off of the assumption that the earth was flat.
Allen Christenson, professor of comparative arts and letters and an expert on Mayan society, explained that although the Maya couldn't predict the exact day of an eclipse, they could predict eclipse seasons by noting when Venus rose above the horizon just before sunrise
So if Pagans with limited technology could predict eclipses with a flat earth model, why are you hung up on your limited understanding of eclipses?
