It's part of the Communist take over plan, to create massive fear of crime in order to sell you on a National Police Force. They promise you that a National Police Force will keep you safe, and it will only cost you a little bit of freedom.

A well armed militia (second amendment) will do the same, and will guarantee your freedoms at the same time.
