This reminds me of "Fiery but mostly peaceful."

In other words, it looks a lot like controlled opposition to me. They give a convincing story, showing some top level evidence that leaves out about 99% of the rest of the evidence. AKA this is a contextual lie (a whole bunch of them in this case).
