Frens…. I have limited friends due to my positions on where I think we are in this movie - still so many people still in the ‘Matrix’. - I choose to isolate even though I am naturally social - this has been a tough adjustment for me … Ya see I have trouble being around people who spew disinformation about a virus that is no more dangerous than the common cold… and As if on que (no pun) my cousin decided to cancel Xmas this year because the media instilled fear and panic to the point of paralysis… I am so sick of stupid people! We haven’t had a family gathering in 2 fucking years!
When does this fucking END??
Silver as stocking stuffers growing up is what turned me to an ape. Great gift on many levels
Ive been giving silver to the kids and grandkids for Christmas, Easter, graduations and birthdays since 1985 when my oldest was born. I start them off with 10 ounces at their Christening and go until they finish college. My two kids have accumulated at least 150 ounces this way and they continue to buy their own.
The last three years Ive given all the grandkids a small bag of junk silver, mostly dimes but some quarters and half dollars, on Halloween. The kids love looking at the old coins. But I do it for its barter potential in a full madmax situation.
I am of the age of your oldest. You are a cool dad!!
I got hooked on silver when they remodeled my Grandpas kitchen in 1976. In one of the walls was 100 or so silver quarters that had fallen in there during a poker game when they remodeled in the 50s. I was 12 years old and from that point on I looked at every quarter, dime and half dollar I got to see if it was silver. Back then there was still quite a bit in circulation.
When I graduated HS that same Grandpa gave me 100 ozs of commemerative rounds that he had been collecting for decades. I thought they were the coolest things ever. After college I began my own collecting and soon branched out into gold, platinum and palladium. Not a lot I had a wife, a mortgage and young kids to feed and clothe and was starting a business.
When my oldest was born the wife and I bought him a couple hundred dollars in savings bonds and I made him a lock box out of teak which my wife decorated. I just threw in 10 or so rounds. When Christmas came that year my wife suggested we throw a couple more in the box.
It just built from that point on. There wasnt really a clear purpose, was never about getting rich or anything, it was just something we did. There has been a purpose though since 2016 and the grandkids rake it in lol.
Can I be one of your kids??? LOL
