I've became an expert at rebuilding Coleman lanterns and stoves. It's just a hobby. However, 9 out of 10 that you find, (unless they have never been fired) won't run. And very few folks, today have any clue how to start a gas pressure lantern, let alone now how to repair one.

If a lantern has not been used in many years, (assuming it has been fired in the past). The orifice at the bottom of the fuel pick-up tube is usually clogged. At that point, you are going to have to disassemble the lantern. Coleman, made these to be somewhat difficult to work on, as they wanted to keep the business for their authorized repair centers. To my knowledge, there are no such repair operations in business in the United States, anymore. And the factory repair shop in Wichita closed in 2016. I have more than 50 Coleman lanterns, of various models, some restored, some I customized, and some only I cleaned up. Believe it or not Coleman still produces the Instant-Lite in limited models for the Japan market for BIG money. The last Instant-Lite produced for the US market, was the 220-K, and that ceased production in 1983.
