I can't believe I didn't catch that! She was hung with a red sash. I'll never forget the odd behavior of her husband the day after her "suicide", wearing the plastic mask of the Rescuer's mouse (who is wearing what appears to be a red sash.) Here's a snap of that: https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/f068f0bdce6851a3cc292edcfa72bbe1 And then subsequent 'suicides' by other famous folks that also used the red sash symbolism.
