I just got an email from a local non-profit saying they are closed until January 15th due to staffing shortages. And, everywhere I look... same thing... "now hiring" .
Some people are home because they are quarantined, but, that many? No way.
Perhaps the workforce has shrunk because some fear working and being exposed to covid?
Or because they are making more money via unemployment?
Or because they had to quit or get the jab, and they chose to quit?
Other reasons? What is going on? The lack of employees everywhere is very concerning... it's just resulting in more division. I wish I had a solution.
I got fired back in sept. So did my wife. Tons of job postings but almost seems like no one is really hiring (in my field). After Christmas I’m changing careers if nothing works out.
I always lived pretty debt free and good n prepped so I really don’t owe anyone much that’s how I’m still subsisting. I probably dont need to work for a year or so before I start worrying.
Same exact situation. I got fired in September for not getting the jab. I have been living off of one income (with my boyfriend). The only debt is the mortgage, but we spent within our means of one income so we are good. It's tight, money wise, be we are so much happier. It feels good to have time to do what makes me happy and more time to volunteer/serve others. I honestly feel blessed being in this situation. I'm getting much needed rest.
Best bet is to apply to a business competitor. I used to work in the air freight industry and those companies loved poaching employees from their competition.
