In the 80’s, Oregon was in financial ruins due to the shut down of the timber industry. People were fleeing the state, it was hard to get work, it was tough times. But the only people who were homeless at the time, were the runaway teens who were hanging out in downtown Eugene or the bums under the Burnside bridge in Portland. And these were issues that caring communities tried to address and help. At the time, we were a Mostly Republican state with liberal cities.
Fast Forward to today—this state is far left, godless, Democrat controlled government and the homeless and drug overdoses running rampant—out of control. No one even cares anymore. Cost of living is through the roof, high taxes, failing schools, high regulations, high property costs, hard to build your own home anymore on your own property, so they move everyone to high density housing. It is crazy. You can’t even find a single place to rent in my town. None.
