let me correct your Swiss fact. Switzerland had compulsory military service where you went in for two years training/active duty followed by inactive duty until 45 y/o where you were required to keep your weapon and gear at the ready. After 45 you had the option to keep said weapon if converted to semi-auto or turn it in.
By no means is every household "required" to have an assault weapon.
